Description
Nativity scene with the Holy Family. The scene is entirely hand-carved from a single block of wood on an oval base.
The characters are polychrome and antiqued, painted with natural pigments according to the ancient Florentine technique.
In the foreground the Holy Family – Jesus, Virgin Mary and St. Joseph – framed by adoring shepherds and in the background the ox and the donkey. Above the angel with a cartouche that reads “alleluia”.
